The 2025 Winner of the Inaugural Prize in History
Congratulations to Gabe Creech, the first awardee of the Charles Francis Guittard and Nancy Davis Labastida Endowed Award in History at Baylor University.
Gabe Creech. ‘25, won the award for his research paper, “For Brothers, Emperor, and Country: Bonapartist Exiles and the Nostalgic Utopia of the Champ d’Asile,” written in the History Capstone Seminar. Now an alum, Creech is continuing his education by pursuing a Ph.D. in History at Ohio State University.
In this Baylor profile, the award winner noted why he is choosing to pursue history as a career:
Gabe Creech, Baylor University ‘25, Winner of the Inaugural Charles Francis Guittard and Nancy Davis Labastida Endowed Award in History at Baylor University.
“I’ve always been fascinated by stories; stories about where we come from, how we got here, and where we’re going. Writing fiction is not exactly a reliable career, so I opted to pursue something equally evasive…research. Still a heck of a lot more sustainable than fiction.”
Sounds like a good match for our award. We can’t wait to see what’s next.
